AKWESASNE -- Construction of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s new facility to house its Planning & Infrastructure Division is getting closer to being completed. The building is located at 2817 State Route 95 in Akwesasne and was designed by Tisdel Associates and being built by Danko Construction Inc. of Massena, NY. When substantially completed in April 2017, the pre-engineered metal building will include 11,600 square feet of space; 5 vehicle bays, eight work stations, conference room and storage areas. It was designed in accordance with NYS’s Energy Conservation Construction Code and includes high-efficiency lighting and sensors, a radiant floor heating system and roof-mounted solar photovoltaic panels, as well as two distinct areas separated by a fire-rated wall. Demolition of their existing building, former-HAVFD Fire Station #1, located on Gray Street will also be completed by Danko.
