AKWESASNE -- The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center reports that Contact Tracers have attributed five (5) positive cases to a community member’s in-home wake and funeral service. At the request of the family, the EOC was asked to share this advisory urging individuals who attended the observance between Sunday, October 17th and Tuesday, October 19th at 383 Frogtown Road to please get tested for COVID-19.

If you suspect exposure, please self-quarantine and get a COVID-19 PCR test no sooner than seven (7) days following the event. Watch for symptoms that include diarrhea, fever/chills, headaches and body aches, cough, nausea and vomiting, sore throat, and/or a loss of taste or smell. Don’t assume it is allergies or just a sore throat. If any of these symptoms develop, please call your healthcare provider for guidance. Please call ahead if you’re displaying symptoms before driving to the clinic or hospital.

We kindly remind you to please treat everyone as if they are positive -- wear a mask in all public places, wash your hands often, avoid uncontrolled gatherings, social distance, stay in your immediate bubble, and stay home if you are sick. We ask that you please stay safe at all times.

Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route 37. Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a PCR test by contacting Mountain Medical at (518) 521-3322 (Malone) or (315) 705-0700 (Massena).
