Ohairí:ha/June 2, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council, along with representatives from its Health Services and Mental Health programs, attended the soft opening of the independently operated Haudenosaunee Everlasting Academy of Learning (HEAL) Lodge's new Standing Sky Academy, located in Tsi Snaihne.
The Academy offers an independent and safe learning space for its traditional practitioners to share their knowledge of our cultural teachings and ways of being. The Tribal Council was in awe of the new facility and its philosophy, stating "the new HEAL learning space and its mission are very important, especially during this time of revitalization and healing. We are honored to name HEAL's Standing Sky Academy as a 2025 Community Support recipient. Its priorities are ones we share, to bring our people together in safe spaces to learn, heal, and grow."
Della Adams, co-founder of the HEAL Lodge announced that HEAL "…now serves over 1,300 'cousins.’ We continue to see enormous growth year-over-year since we opened our doors. Eddie, our practitioners, and of course our donors, and supporters make it possible for us to make such a dream come true in Akwesasne. We encourage the People to learn who they are by working with them, alongside our ancestors, to heal through our traditional practices and ways of knowing."
The Tribal Council's Community Support initiative helps to fund non-profit organizations, groups, and independent community programs that perform important and impactful work and share the tribe’s priorities on public safety, health, and education. For 2025, the Tribal Council awarded $100,000 to the Haudenosaunee Everlasting Academy of Learnings to help build a beautiful, cultural space for the education and health of our community.
