On June 11, 2024 the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Compliance Department issued a Notice of Violation to Vape Bank proprietors, Aaron Adams and Dallas Delormier, at 2586 Chateauguay Street, Fort Covington. The violation is due to “operating without a SRMT tobacco retail license,” violating the SRMT Tobacco Ordinance (TCR 2004-40), as amended.
The notice of violation was delivered to the non-compliant business operating within Tribal jurisdiction, to duly inform them of the Tribe’s licensing requirements to operate a tobacco business.
The owners had an opportunity to present a valid license or to complete a SRMT license application within five (5) business days, which has now passed.
The Compliance Department has no records or knowledge of the business completing any Tribal applications for a “Building Permit”, “Tobacco Licensing” or a “Doing Business As” registration (d/b/a) under an assumed name. Thus, subjecting the business to the jurisdiction of the Town of Fort Covington, including its rules and regulations, plus property, income and sales taxes.
“The Tribal licensing and tribal rules and regulations are intended to protect and support to tribal member businesses and the community, including minimum pricing and applied Tribal fees on tobacco products. Tribal-Member owned licensed businesses that comply with Tribal regulations support many programs that assist Tribal community members. We hope that Tribal members understand and patronize Tribally-licensed businesses to support the community,” said Elliott Lazore, SRMT Compliance Director.
