AKWESASNE – (Enniskó:wa/March 11, 2026) The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is notifying the community of a possible flood event due to ice jams and a rapid rise in water levels of the St. Regis River and St. Lawrence River. Recent warm temperatures exacerbated snowmelt rates in surrounding areas, increasing water flow and contributing to favorable flood conditions.
Community members residing in flood-prone areas including sections of Frogtown Road and St. Regis Road are urged to remain alert of rising water levels and have emergency preparations in place for a possible flood event.
The Office of Emergency Management & Safety (OEMS) is closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely and accurate updates to the community as the situation progresses. The Emergency Operation Center (EOC) has been briefed and prepared for a partial activation in the event conditions worsen.
For emergency assistance, or to report flooding, please call the OEMS at (518) 358-2272 or the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department’s emergency phone line at (518) 358-9200.
