The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Warmly Welcomes New Executive Director, Jill Benedict
At the May Tribal Monthly Meeting, Tribal Council introduced the new Executive Director, Jill Benedict. Jill’s intelligence and thoughtfulness along with her dedication to her community and the Tribe, coupled with her strong leadership made her a standout candidate for the most senior position with the Tribe.
“Accepting the Executive Director position is both an honor and a responsibility I take very seriously. I have lived and worked here my entire life, where my husband and I have raised our family and continue to stay grounded. I love Akwesasne and our people. I dedicated my career to making Akwesasne better, and I am committed to supporting and strengthening our community. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working alongside the team members of the Tribe as we carry and work through this important work together,” shared Jill.
Jill previously served as the Executive Director of the Tribal Gaming Commission (TGC). During her tenure with the TGC, she was responsible to manage safety and compliance, lead key projects, develop regulatory policies, direct departments, recruitment, policy development, review audits, finances and operations; oversee gaming activities, and represent the TGC nationally.
Graduating from the State University of New York at Potsdam with a 4.0 gpa, Jill obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master's of Science in Management. In 2023, Jill earned the MS Management Program annual fund award and the award for outstanding research. A year later, she received an award for project leadership and was the main focus for a SUNY profile titled “Pathway to the Professional.”
“After a high-level screening exam, and series of competitive interviews, we made our final selection of Jill Benedict as our new Executive Director. We welcome this new chapter for the Tribe under her leadership. We look forward to working alongside her and can’t wait to see what she will accomplish in her new role,” shared Tribal Council.
The Tribe is excited for what is to come and the Tribal Council invites the community to join us in welcoming Jill Benedict to her new role as Executive Director.
