Saint Regis Tribal Election Board Announces Unofficial Election Results

Voters Elect Chief, Sub-Chief and Tribal Clerk

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe held its annual election on Saturday, June 2, 2012, in the lobby of the Tribal Community Center. Voter turnout was strong all day as people turned out to vote for the positions of Tribal Chief, Tribal Sub-Chief and Tribal Clerk.

Mark Garrow, Monica Jacobs, Paul Thompson, Gary Cole and Roger Thomas were all on the ballot for Tribal Chief. Mark Garrow received 191 votes with 22 absentee ballot votes for a total of 213 votes. Monica Jacobs received 179 votes and 18 absentee ballot votes for a total of 197 votes. Gary Cole received 194 votes with seven absentee ballot votes for a total of 201 votes. Paul Thompson received 249 votes with 16 absentee votes for a total of 265. Roger Thomas received 72 votes with one absentee for a total of 73 votes. Numerous individuals received a total of 11 write-in votes. Fifteen ballots were void.

Stacy Skidders received 175 votes for Tribal Sub-Chief, with 15 absentee votes for a total of 190 votes. Pamela Brown received 99 votes, with 16 absentee votes for a total of 115 votes. Eric Thompson received 450 votes with 21 absentee votes for a total of 471 votes. Sharon Thompson received 175 votes with 13 absentee votes for a total of 188 votes. One individual received one vote as a write-in. Ten ballots were void.

Corleen Jackson-Jacco received 456 votes with 34 absentee votes for a total of 490 votes. Cecil Garrow received 141 votes with 14 absentee votes for a total of 155 votes. Clarissa Terrance-Chatland received 301 votes with 17 absentee votes for a total of 318 votes. One individual received one write-in vote. Twelve ballots were void.

The Election Board will officially certify the election results after a five-day period, pending any appeals, and announce the official results as soon as they are certified.
