SRMT Child Support Enforcement Unit Provides 25 Food Boxes to Families; Secures $1,500 Matching Donation from NCCS

AKWESASNE – (Tsiothóhrha/December 30, 2025) The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Child Support Enforcement Unit (CSEU) is proud to announce the distribution of 25 food boxes to program families within the community, ensuring additional support during the two-week school closure this holiday season.

Recognizing that extended school breaks can place added strain on household resources, the CSEU organized the food initiative to help program families bridge the gap and maintain access to nutritious meals. Each box includes bread, cheese, butter, peanut butter, jelly, and other family-friendly essentials selected to ease the burden during this time of year.

In a significant boost to the effort, CSEU secured a matching $1,500 donation from North Country Colocation Services (NCCS), doubling the impact of local contributions and expanding the number of families served. The Tribe extends its gratitude to NCCS for its generosity and continued commitment to supporting Akwesasne families.

“We know that school breaks can be challenging for many households,” said April Lauzon, CSEU Program Manager. “Our goal is to ensure that our families feel supported, nourished, and cared for during the holidays. The partnership with NCCS allowed us to reach even more community members, and we are deeply appreciative.”

The CSEU remains committed to uplifting families through both direct services and community-centered initiatives. This holiday food distribution reflects the unit’s ongoing dedication to meeting the needs of Akwesasne families with compassion and collaboration.
