On Friday, March 6, 2026, five members of the SRMT Education Committee were sworn in at the Ionkwakiohkwaro:ron Tribal Administration Building. To affirm Tribal Council's dedication to the well-being of children and families, the Education Committee's mission is to: function as a structured body to liaise with educational institutions, advocate for community priorities, and promote transparent and consistent communication between academic institutions, the Tribe and community.
The Committee includes elders, parents of children currently enrolled in school, and an education professional. Sworn in before the SRMT Tribal Clerk Summer Bero, Committee members were appointed to staggering terms as follows: Deborah Terrance (three-year term), Nicole Bonaparte (two-year term), Roderick Cook (two-year term), Rachelle Garrow-Hayes (one-year term), and Rebecca Smoke (one-year term).
