SRMT EOC Reports 1 New COVID-19 Case: 27 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Health Services reported one (1) new positive case of COVID-19 today in Akwesasne’s southern portion. They are pleased that one (1) individual has resolved, but there remain 27 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. There is no update on quarantined individuals, which stayed at 94 family members and friends at home to prevent any further spread. We wish everyone who continues to be affected by COVID-19 a safe and symptom-free recovery.

Through contact tracing, the current positive cases and quarantines are due to community spread, which means the source of transmission is unknown. As a result, PLEASE TREAT EVERYONE AS IF THEY ARE POSITIVE. Please also stay in your immediate household bubble. This is a temporary measure until the number of cases decrease.

Regardless of vaccination status, all individuals are required to wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose in all public places. Please also stay at least 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you; wash your hands often; avoid large gatherings and poorly ventilated spaces; stay home if you are sick; and please choose to get vaccinated to protect yourself, your family, and your community.

If you suspect exposure to a positive case and awaiting notification from public health, please self-quarantine and get tested no sooner than seven (7) days following the event. Self-monitor for early symptoms that include diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or loss of taste or smell. If any of these symptoms develop, please contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
