SRMT EOC Reports 2 New COVID-19 Cases, 12 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services is reporting two (2) new cases of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne. Zero (0) individuals are being hospitalized, while two (2) individuals have been released from isolation today -- leaving twelve (12) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Around eight (8) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home and following public health guidance. We extend them all our best wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.

The COVID-19 Delta Variant is spreading faster and causing more severe illness than previous. It is now more important than ever to be diligent and get vaccinated and for individuals to follow all protective measures: wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds, wear a mask, and social distance (6 ft. apart). Now is not the time to let your guard down.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is holding the next Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, with parent/guardian presence required for minors. Individuals can also schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine by calling Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services at (518) 358-3141.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is also conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road follow the signs for testing garage.

Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
