SRMT EOC Reports 4 New COVID-19 Cases, 11 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services is reporting four (4) new case of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne. One (1) individual is being hospitalized, while one (1) individual was released from isolation since yesterday -- leaving eleven (11) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Around six (6) family members and friends remain in quarantine at home and following public health guidance. We extend them all our best wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.

The Delta variant is more contagious than past versions of the virus, making the concern that more children will get COVID-19 and spread it to others. Children under 12 years old are not eligible and are depending on adults to get vaccinated to protect them. If you are eligible to receive the vaccine, do it for the children.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is holding the next Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic on Wednesday, August 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. Individuals can also schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine by calling Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services at (518) 358-3141.

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is also conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please use the road located across from McGee Road follow the signs for testing garage. Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a COVID-19 test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. The PCR Test is free however, requests to receive a Rapid Test is at the individual’s expense.
