SUMMER INTERN SPOTLIGHT: Talynn Wylie, Health Services Intern

By Ronni Sunday, Communications Summer Intern

(The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is proud to provide employment opportunities for high school and college students through the Department of Education’s Summer Youth and Career Internship Employment Program. To help report on this initiative, we are proud to share the following summer student spotlight, which reports on internships in areas specific to the student’s chosen career path.)

AKWESASNE – Talynn Wylie (she/her), age 20, is a biology major on the pre-med track at Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences. Her main focus currently is on graduating and completing her bachelor’s degree, and eventually studying to be a Physician Assistant.

She lists baking as her hobby – making cakes for special occasions for fun. She enjoys playing sports such as hockey and soccer and is part of the women’s club hockey team at school. Talynn’s friends describe her

as outgoing, caring, and always willing to help; she also believes she is an optimist at heart.

While interning at Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services for the summer, Talynn has had the opportunity to change positions weekly, working at the Let’s Get Healthy – Diabetes Center for Excellence most recently. She has also been able to get hands-on experience by taking vitals and interacting with patients while shadowing Health Services’ nurses and providers.
