At the Tsiothórha/December Tribal Monthly Meeting, Tribal Council recognized Akwesasro:non students for their athletic and academic achievements.
The Massena Varsity Girls Volleyball Team finished their regular season undefeated and captured the Section X East Division title, along with the Section X Class A Championship. Kanienthentha Thompson was recognized for being named the Section X East Division Most Valuable Player and later honored as the only Section X Class A athlete selected to receive All-State recognition, earning a spot on the Fifth Team. She led Massena in every major statistical category, including blocks, service points, service aces, and kills. Eight of the thirteen team members maintained excellent grades, exemplifying what it means to be a student-athlete.
The Massena Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams did exceptionally well this year. Andrew David earned the Boys Sectional Championship title and was named Section X Most Valuable Player. Logan David finished fourth overall at the sectional championships. Addison Burnham placed 11th at the Girls Sectionals, while Jayelah Lashomb-Herne finished 13th overall. These are outstanding accomplishments for a newly revitalized cross-country program.
Also honored were Akwesasro:non high school students who earned academic honors, including the High Honor Roll, Honor Roll, and Principal's List for both Salmon River Central and Massena Central High Schools. Our students deserve special recognition for superior academic achievement as a total of 145 student names were read at the Tribal Monthly Meeting.
Congratulations to all Akwesasne students on their athletic and academic achievements. Your hard work and dedication are inspiring and we are all so proud of you.
