Tribal EOC Announces Partial Reopening of Generations Park

As spring rolls in and the sunshine lifts our spirits, our families are able to spend more time outdoors. In support of the mental and physical health of our families, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Emergency Operations Center is pleased to announce partial re-opening of Generations Park. In order to keep our community safe, COVID restrictions are in place to ensure that the park facilities may remain open.

Hand sanitizer and wipes will be made available in the washroom building, and in other locations within the park.

Playground Area: Maximum occupancy 10 children within the fenced area at one time. Parents may be inside the play area with their children. Facilities staff will sanitize play structures once per day, increasing based on daily community activity levels.

Basketball Court: Maximum occupancy 10 people on each end of court at one time (20 total)

Travis Solomon Memorial Lacrosse Box: Maximum total Occupancy 25. Masks required. Lights will turn off at 8:30pm.

Washrooms: Open fully. PPE is made available within, including hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. Bathrooms are locked at 8:00 p.m. each night.

Pavilion: Fully Open. Tables are arranged to keep each household family bubble within a safe distance of others.

Main Field/ Practice Field: Remain closed at this time due to ground moisture, but is expected to reopen when weather and soil conditions permit.

Kitchen/ Concession: Will remain closed at this time.

Families and individuals are encouraged to safely utilize Generations Park, a great resource for many activities. Whether doing yoga in the grass, playing catch in the lacrosse box or strolling on Tewatahitha Walking Trail, please do your part in caring for our park and our community.

  • Stay home if you are sick or do not feel well
  • Practice social distancing; stay 6 feet apart in all areas of the park whenever possible
  • Do not gather in groups unless you are all from the same family household
  • Wear a mask at all times while in the park area, you don’t know who you may run into. Children under two years old are not required to wear a mask per CDC recommendation
  • Cover your cough or sneezing, discard of all tissue paper in waste bin containers receptacles
  • Wash hands often using soap and water for no less than 20 seconds, especially after you sneeze and cough
  • Use the hand sanitizer materials frequently if wash basins are not readily available
  • Do not leave young children unattended for any reason
  • Be courteous to others and clean up after yourself and your family as you leave the park
  • Please follow and abide by all rules and signs as posted, these are put in place for your protection

Failure to comply with the standards and restrictions will result in closure of park facilities once again. Staff will be available at certain times to observe safety standards and remind individuals of them. This may not be possible at all times, so parents are encouraged to speak with children about the importance of following the safety precautions so that the park may remain open.

Please do your part to keep the community safe and keep the park open for the kids!
