Tribal EOC Reports 5 New COVID-19 Cases: 19 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services reported five (5) new positive cases today of COVID-19 in Akwesasne’s southern portion. Two (2) community members have been released from isolation, but 19 total active cases remain under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Two (2) family members and friends remain hospitalized, but not counted as active cases as they’re under the hospital’s care until released. There is no update on the total number of individuals in quarantine, which was reported at seven (7) yesterday. We with them a safe recovery.

The 19 total active cases are the most reported by the Tribe since October 19th and the number of cases is continuing to increase in nearby areas. Both St. Lawrence County Public Health Departments and Franklin County Public Health Services attribute the high numbers to seasonal and other celebratory gatherings. As a result, they are urging individuals to get tested before and after gatherings, as well please chose to get vaccinated to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community.
