The Tribe’s Health Services is conducting another Community Walk-In Vaccination Clinic tomorrow on Friday, March 26th for Akwesasne’s northern and southern residents, 18-years or older, who are interested in being vaccinated for COVID-19. The walk-in clinic is being held at the former-IGA Building from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for individuals to receive the Moderna vaccine.

For 16 and 17-year-old residents, the Pfizer vaccine will also be available at the Friday, March 26th walk-in clinic however, you must have a parent present to receive the vaccine. For those who work or attend a University or College outside of the immediate area, please call (518) 333-0230 for Saturday options.

Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines require two shots to be administered apart — 21 days for Pfizer and 28 days for Moderna. For those who choose to be vaccinated, you may notice some side effects, but these are normal signs that your body is building protection. Some common side effects are a soreness or discomfort at the injection area, fever, chills, tiredness and/or headache.

The vaccines take approximately two weeks after the second shot for individuals to have the vaccine’s full rate of effectiveness. Regardless of your vaccination status however, we kindly ask all individuals to continue following all the safety protocols that were developed to keep our community safe.
