AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting two (2) new cases of COVID-19 today, which leaves nine (9) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. One (1) relative was released from isolation however, ten (10) family members and friends remain in quarantine and following the guidance of public health. Please continue to be kind and understanding to those who have been or continue to be impacted by COVID-19.
One hundred and seventy (170) Prime vaccinations were conducted this week by the Tribe’s Health Services — making 2,903 Akwesasne residents, employees, and others with social or economic ties to the community receiving their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Two hundred and fifteen (215) Boosters were conducted for 1,773 individuals getting their second shot. A total of 4,703 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered to date by Health Services.
Please get vaccinated when you have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The sooner that the majority of community members are vaccinated, the sooner that safety measures can be relaxed and a resumption of our community’s annual events and activities can take place. We all need to do our part to get back to normal, while keeping Akwesasne and each other safe. The next COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will be held on Thursday, April 8th at the former-IGA Building beginning at 9:00 a.m. until supplies last.
For more information about the Tribe’s vaccination process, please call Health Service’s new direct line at (518) 333-0230. Please leave your name, a good telephone number, and a brief message for a healthcare worker to call you back.
For Easter Weekend, regardless of your vaccination status, please remain vigilant and follow the safety protocols that were developed to keep us all healthy and safe. Please wear your mask in public places, stay at least six (6) feet apart from others who do not live in your household bubble, wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds, and do not travel outside of the 300-mile radius for non-essential reasons.
If you have a non-emergency matter, please call the Emergency Operations Center at (518) 320-0019; Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
