AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center, in coordination with Health Services, is reporting a spike in COVID-19 cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Three (3) new cases are being reported, which makes three (3) total active cases in Akwesasne’s southern portion. Through contact tracing, 13 family members and friends have been placed in quarantine due to exposure.
All individuals who are currently in isolation or quarantine are urged to please stay home and follow all guidance from public health. With the more transmissible Delta Variant quickly growing across the U.S. and Canada, it is highly important that you remain at home to prevent community spread. Please stay home and monitor for symptoms that include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
With the majority of community members still unvaccinated there remains a risk of positive cases to increase. To protect our community—particularly those who cannot get the vaccine, such as children and those with immunocompromised conditions—individuals are urged once more to please get vaccinated. Please do your part to protect our community’s overall health and safety.
