AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting three (3) new cases of COVID-19 today — making six (6) total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Five (5) relatives were released from isolation however, ten (10) family members and friends remain in quarantine. We extend them wishes for a safe and complication-free recovery.
The Tribe’s Health Services is conducting a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic this week for individuals with social or economic connections to the Akwesasne community. The walk-in vaccination clinic will be held at the former-IGA Building on Thursday, April 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon), or until supplies last. The vaccine clinic is for individuals 18-years or older who are interested in receiving the Moderna vaccine.
Non-native spouses of Tribal Members and Akwesasne employees who reside in Canada are eligible to receive the vaccine. Canadian residents should contact CBSA beforehand about quarantine requirements upon their return to Canada. Akwesasne residents and employees can still schedule a COVID-19 test by calling Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or their Massena facility at (315) 705-0700. Tests should only be taken if you have been outside of your immediate household bubble, not following protective measures, and no sooner than seven (7) days after suspected exposure to a positive case.
Please keep in mind that individuals who are awaiting COVID-19 test results cannot receive a vaccination.
