Tribe's EOC Reports 8 New COVID-19 Cases: 47 Total Active

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting eight (8) new cases of COVID-19 — making 47 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Two (1) community member has resolved however, 60 family members and friends remain in quarantine at home. Zero (0) additional relatives have been hospitalized — making four (4) community members who are in the hospital recovering from severe symptoms. We wish them both and everyone who continues to be affected by the virus a safe, and complication-free recovery.

The next COVID-19 community drive-thru test collection will be held Tuesday, March 9th at the former-IGA Building beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., or while test supplies last. Akwesasne residents and employees can also schedule a test by calling Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or their Massena facility at (315) 705-0700. These are free PCR nasal swab tests, but requests to receive a Rapid Test is at an individual’s expense.

Individuals should get a COVID-19 test if they have been outside of their immediate household bubble, not following safety protocols, suspect direct exposure, or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms: such as diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or possible loss of taste or smell. If you are displaying symptoms, immediately contact your healthcare provider however, asymptomatic individuals should get tested no sooner than seven (7) days after direct exposure to prevent a false negative test result.
