AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 however, one (1) active case remains in the southern portion of Akwesasne. No community members were released from quarantine — leaving two (2) family members and friends at home and following guidance from public health. We wish them a safe and complication-free recovery.
Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services reports that 6,683 total vaccinations have been administered, as of May 26th. This includes 3,508 Primes, or first doses, provided to individuals of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. Additionally; 3,175 Boosters; or second doses, have been given to individuals who are now fully vaccinated. We extend them our appreciation for doing their part to keep us all healthy and safe.
COVID-19 WALK-IN VACCINATION CLINICS
Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services announced that following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer Vaccine that adolescents 12 through 17 years of age will now be accepted at the Walk-in Vaccine Clinics. The clinics are being held every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend the walk-in clinics, but please keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present.
Individuals who are 18 years and older who choose to receive the Moderna Vaccine will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes: including a 70” Flat Screen TV, $250 BJ’s Gift Cards, and a 1-Night Stay in Lake Placid with Zipline tickets! Those who choose to receive the COVID-19 vaccine will also receive a voucher for a FREE Sub, courtesy of Subway located in the Speedway Plaza at 935 State Route 37. All minors 12 to 17-year-olds who receive the Pfizer Vaccine will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 Apple Gift Card.
COVID-19 TEST COLLECTION CLINICS
Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or while test kits last, at their main campus located at 404 State Route 37 in Akwesasne, NY. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road. The drive-thru format is open for all community members and employees of the Tribe, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne businesses, and local school districts. Please note that individuals who are awaiting test results cannot receive a vaccination.
MASK REQUIREMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT
The Emergency Operations Center is reminding community members and guests that despite NYS and the CDC easing its guidance; masks must still be worn where they are required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulation. As a result, individuals are still required to properly wear a mask in all public places within the Tribe’s jurisdiction, including at local businesses and workplaces.
