Community Notice: Geotechnical Drilling for Culvert Repairs Tentatively scheduled for January 5 - 9, 2026

Notice to the community: Atlantic Testing Laboratories (ATL) will be on the territory starting this week to conduct drilling operations. This work is part of the FEMA-funded restoration project for culverts and drainage systems that were damaged or washed out during Tropical Storm Debby.

What to Expect
ATL crews will be using drilling rigs to take soil and bedrock samples (geotechnical borings). This information is required to ensure that the new, permanent culverts are engineered to withstand future storms and protect our local environment.

Locations
Crews will be active at various sites across the territory where Tropical Storm Debby caused significant erosion or structural failure.

Safety & Traffic

  • Watch for Flags: Please be mindful of workers and equipment near the roadside.
  • Traffic Flow: Expect intermittent, one-lane traffic or minor delays in areas where drilling rigs are positioned close to the road.
  • Respect the Sites: For the safety of the community and the workers, please keep a safe distance from the drilling equipment.

These technical assessments are a crucial step in securing the federal funding needed to restore our infrastructure to full strength. We appreciate your cooperation as we work to repair the damage and improve the resilience of our roads and waterways.
