The Tribal Ethics Ordinance is a formal working guideline for the conduct of Tribal business, to protect the interests of tribal members and to protect the reputation and integrity of Tribal Government. The Ordinance contains a set of standards and procedures which hold the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Chiefs, Sub-Chiefs and Tribal Clerk accountable to the community.
The Tribal Ethics Officer receives, reviews and investigates complaints of ethics ordinance violations. If a complaint is found to have merit, the officer will organize a commission to hear the merits, make a determination and is entrusted to impose sanctions when a violation has occurred.
