Tribe to Close on Friday in Honor of the Passing of Rosemary Bennett

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe will close its offices on Friday February 3, 2012 due to the passing of tribal employee Rosemary Bennett, a nurse for the Let's Get Healthy Program . She passed away on Monday January 30, 2012. Tribal Council and tribal employees express their heart-felt condolences to the Bennett family.

At the request of her husband, a celebration of life memorial service will be held at the home of Janine Rourke on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. She resides at 89 Rourke Road, Akwesasne. Co-workers, colleagues, friends and community are invited to share in this appreciation of life and laughter of Rose. A traditional meal will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in her name to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Diabetes Center of Excellence or the National Humane Society.

Essential services such as the group home, the Individual Residential Assistance Program (IRA), the police station, Partridge House and the solid waste transfer station will remain open. All the tribal programs including health services clinic and pharmacy will be closed, so community members are asked to plan accordingly.
