Tribe Announces Final Family Court Code “Tenkwahswanón:na” Amendments to be Adopted

AKWESASNE — (Tsiothohrkó:wa/January 10, 2024) On Kentenhkó:wa/November 29th the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Court announced a 30-day Public comment period for proposed amendments to the Marriage, Divorce, and Custody Code TCR 2022-58 titled “Tenkwahswanón:na”. There were no comments received at the close of the comment period on Tsiothóhrha/December 30, 2023.
Since no comments were received at the close of the 30-day comment period, the proposed amendments to the Marriage, Divorce, and Custody Code titled “Tenkwahswanón:na” is now available to view on the Tribal Members Portal at www.srmt-nsn.gov and is also available from the Tribal Clerk’s Office by calling (518)358-2272. You may also receive a copy in-person from the Tribal Clerk’s Office located at the Ionkwakiohwkaróron Tribal Administration Building.
This notice commences the final public review period and shall expire on Enníska/February 9, 2024, after which a final Tribal Council Resolution (TCR) to be adopted will be presented to Tribal Council for approval.
